Re “HBO’s Mobster Saga Does New Jersey Proud,” April 6: New Jersey proud at being associated with mobsters? How insulting to every Italian American who has had to grow up in a society whose picture of an Italian American is a “street-smart,” tough-talking guy named “Vinnie Goom-Ba,” who has a degree in higher education from “Whatsamatafa U.” Isn’t it time for Hollywood to get past stereotyping ethnic groups in television and film? New Jersey proud of mobsters? What’s next? Compton proud of gangsters?
