Children 7 through 12 will have the opportunity to steer themselves away from alcohol and drugs this weekend during the Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs.

The event, co-sponsored by Huntington Beach Drug Abuse Resistant Education program, will allow children to race battery-powered miniature race cars around a speedway set up in the Kmart parking lot.

For every child who crosses the finish line, Kmart will donate $5 toward drug and alcohol abuse education. The fastest drivers will be entered into a drawing to win all-expense-paid trips to the national championships in Florida to compete for $10,000 in college scholarships.
