INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Center for the Partially Sighted in West Los Angeles needs volunteers to read correspondence; to assist clients on computers; to help in the counseling program; to help with administrative tasks, general office assistance and public health fairs; and to greet clients and visitors. * American Red Cross needs volunteers to serve as first-aid and safety instructors for its Disaster Relief Service, to help distribute food, manage shelters and provide counseling for disaster victims. * Driftwood Health Care Center in Torrance needs volunteers to visit its residents. Many need assistance writing letters, reading books and magazines and participating in group activities such as bingo and exercise classes. * Sexual Assault Crisis Agency in Long Beach offers training sessions for those interested in becoming crisis counselors for its 24-hour hotline. The next 48-hour training starts April 28 and will be held over three weekends. Information: (562) 494-5046.
