MISSION VIEJO
A two-year fight between the City Council and Lake Mission Viejo Assn. ended this week with a settlement between the two parties.
The City Council approved a plan at its meeting Monday to build a new landscaped walkway with benches, tables and gardens between Alicia Parkway and the lake.
In return, the Lake association agreed to drop its lawsuit, which challenged the validity of a city ordinance adopted to preserve the public’s view of the lake along the same 800-foot stretch of Alicia.
The lake will also pay half the cost of constructing the new walkway, which is about $750,000.
