Attorney Named to Olson’s Defense Team
An attorney who helped defend O.J. Simpson against double murder charges was appointed Thursday to the legal team of Sara Jane Olson, alleged former Symbionese Liberation Army member.
Through her law firm, criminal defense lawyer Shawn Chapman confirmed her appointment to the team as co-counsel.
Chapman is expected to be paid at taxpayer expense because Olson does not have enough money to pay for attorneys. If Olson succeeds in raising funds for her defense, she must repay the county.
A graduate of Southwestern University School of Law, Chapman specializes in criminal defense, personal injury and civil rights litigation. She is a partner in the firm Borzimer, Masserman, Ecoff & Chapman.
Olson’s trial is set for August. She is charged with conspiring to bomb a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car and a civilian police worker’s car in August 1975. Neither bomb went off.
