With the Internet all the rage, entrepreneurs everywhere are rushing to get online. But before spending thousands of dollars on a flashy new Web site, small business owners might want to learn about the fundamentals of electronic commerce. An upcoming event is designed to teach them just that.

On Friday, the Second Annual E-Commerce Education Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton’s Garden Grove center. Topics discussed include doing business on the Web, launching a Web site, Web advertising and marketing and e-commerce contracting opportunities.

Event sponsors include the U.S. Small Business Administration and the National Assn. of Women Business Owners, among others. The advance registration fee is $35 for NAWBO members and $45 for nonmembers. There is an additional charge of $10 for tickets bought at the door.
