GE’s Aviation Unit Orders 26 Airbuses

GE Capital Aviation Services, a unit of General Electric Co., said it ordered 26 aircraft from Europe’s Airbus Industrie in a transaction valued at more than $2.3 billion. GE Capital Aviation, with a fleet of 950 aircraft, provides airlines around the world with planes and related products and services. The purchase includes a first-time order for the European consortium’s latest wide-body A330-200 and orders for the A320 and A321, GE Capital Aviation said. It will take delivery of its first A330-200 in the spring of 2002, with deliveries continuing through 2005.
