The future top leadership of the Roman Catholic bishops’ national staff has been set with the appointment of Msgr. David J. Malloy to become an associate general secretary next January.

The appointment was made by Msgr. William P. Fay, who was elected by the bishops in November as their next general secretary, or chief staff executive. Fay, 51, will succeed Msgr. Dennis Schnurr in February for a five-year term.

Malloy, 44, from the Milwaukee archdiocese, currently works in the Prefecture of the Papal Household.
