One Dead as Car Hits Pole, Catches Fire
One person was killed Monday night when a car struck a light pole in Newbury Park, authorities said.
Witnesses reported seeing the car explode into flames when it hit the pole at the intersection of Ventu Park Road and Newbury Road around 9:30 p.m.
Authorities were unable to say if the person killed was the driver of the vehicle or whether passengers were also inside the car.
No further information was available late Monday.
