Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Bank of America branch on Westminster Boulevard on Tuesday morning and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber entered the bank holding a canvas bag about 11:15 a.m. and demanded money, said Sgt. Tom Blackburn of the Westminster Police Department.

Two police cruisers were on the street in front of the bank when bank employees reported the robbery. But officers didn’t see the robber, who walked out a door on the other side of the building and disappeared into a large mall parking lot, Blackburn said.

“There’s 25 or 30 businesses that he could have ducked into,” Blackburn said.

The robber, whose image was captured on a bank security camera, is described as black, about 20 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, thin and wearing a black T-shirt with a large white letter “N” on the front, a red baseball cap, baggy shorts and white shoes.

Bank employees told police that the man wasn’t holding a weapon.
