MTA Adds Shuttles From Rail to Bowl

Share

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making life easier for concert-goers with a free shuttle service for Hollywood Bowl patrons using Metro Rail service.

Passengers with round-trip tickets for the Red Line subway or the Blue and Green Line light rail trains will be bused from the Hollywood/Vine station to the Bowl at no additional charge. Fare for those without tickets is $1.35.

The shuttles, which depart every 20 minutes, begin picking up passengers three hours before show time; the last bus leaves 30 minutes before performances begin. Return trips begin 20 minutes after the conclusion of events and continue until 11:45 p.m.--just in time to make the final 12:05 a.m. southbound train, which departs Hollywood/Vine at 12:05 a.m.

The pilot program will continue until Sept. 24, the end of the Hollywood Bowl’s summer season.

The service will save concert-goers considerable time as well as the cost of parking, said county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, who serves on the MTA board. The shuttle will provide faster access to the Bowl and reduce traffic along the often-congested route to the outdoor theater.
