Show Jumping Trials Continue Today

Todd Minikus and his mount, Oh Star, will try to retain the lead in the U.S. Olympic equestrian show jumping trials, which continue today at the Oaks/Blenheim Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano.

Minikus and Oh Star, of Loxahatchee, Fla., have the lead with 12.25 faults coming into today’s seventh and eighth rounds. They performed the only clean round in Wednesday’s competition.

Laura Kraut and Liberty, of Oconomowoc, Wis., are in second at 12.75, after knocking down two obstacles in the final run Wednesday. Margie Goldstein-Engle and Hidden Creek’s Perin of Wellington, Fla., tallied only one knockdown and are in third at 13.25 and Nona Garrison and Rhythmical of Lebanon, N.J., are fourth with 16.

The top four riders after Sunday’s final two rounds at the Del Mar Horsepark will represent the U.S. in Sydney.
