Time to Step Up on Assembly Bill

Share

Senate Bill 338 will protect taxpayers who want student-athletes in public colleges to receive several months’ notice that a sport might be canceled instead of the heartbreaking way Cal State Northridge, Mission College, L.A. City, Pasadena City, West L.A., Trade Tech, UC Irvine and other state schools have axed sports.

SB 338 will pass or die Wednesday in the 21-member state Assembly appropriations committee. Assemblyman Jack Scott, D-Pasadena, changed his mind and voted for it in June. CSU Chancellor Charles Reed should do the same in order to stop education chaos, economic hardship and uprooting of friendships.

Fight back against injustice by quickly contacting elected Assembly members. It’s time to win!
