The House of Representatives has approved $2 million for Orange County Water District’s proposed Ground Water Replenishment System.

The system will take highly treated waste water and purify it to near-distilled quality. The water will then be percolated into the county’s ground water basin. The money, which is included in the 2001 federal budget, must still be approved by the U.S. Senate. It is said the new system will provide 200,000 Orange County families a new source of purified water. The Orange County Water District is based in Fountain Valley.
