Sanchez Isn’t One to Dazzle

Share

* Re “Rep. Sanchez Should Dazzle at Convention,” Agustin Gurza’s Aug. 5 column:

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) doesn’t have Bob Dornan around to “trash” her anymore, so evidently she has settled for trashing herself.

Her planned fund-raiser at the Playboy Mansion was an affront to women and to those Latinos who thought that Sanchez represented our values. She doesn’t, and she never will.

She is so pro-choice that even partial-birth abortion does not faze her. And unlike Bob Dornan, she is more than willing to pander to liberal extremists, including the increasingly powerful homosexual lobby.

Gurza’s column is better suited for the commentary section or as a paid political ad.

In his eulogy of Sanchez, Gurza alleges that Teresa Saldivar, a jeweler, is devoting this year to assure that “Sanchez dazzles in her public appearance during the Democratic Party convention” with platinum accessories and St. John Knits.

A year? But maybe that’s what it takes.

It sounds a lot like she’s marching in political two-step with the many “new Al” reinventions of Al Gore. When all is said and done, you still will have dull Al and a hypocritical Loretta Brixey, who dropped her married name and used her maiden name, Sanchez, in 1996 to pander to Hispanic votes.

Are the platinum accessories and St. John Knits designed to substitute for congressional accomplishments?

Gurza claims that Sanchez should dazzle the upcoming Democratic convention. If she does, they must be quite desperate for dazzling participants. Aside from a lot of fluff, she has accomplished nothing of substance in her 1 1/2 terms in Congress.

Her latest mishap was to plan to use the Playboy Mansion for a fund-raiser she is sponsoring. Her poor taste and lack of class are obvious. I have a much higher sense of values than she or her ilk.
