HUNTINGTON BEACH
The City Council today will receive a presentation of the proposed budget for fiscal 2001 from city staff.
The $270-million budget proposal provides funds for police, fire, recreation and city administrative services, and includes city employees’ salaries.
The proposed budget is $20 million more than the 2000 budget.
John Reekstin, the city’s director of administrative services, said a strong economy has helped the city raise more money from sales and property taxes.
He said public comments on the proposed budget are scheduled for City Council meetings on Sept. 5 and 18. The council will make a final decision on the budget on Sept. 18.
