Local architect Claude L. Senefeld died Aug. 13 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was 85.

Known for designing churches and retirement homes, Senefeld’s company, Inslee, Senefeld & Puchlik, created the retirement home Morningside of Fullerton, and several churches in the city, including the First Christian Church. His other works include the Fullerton fire station headquarters and other buildings throughout Orange County and Los Angeles.

Morningside was his last project with the company 10 years ago, said his wife, Lorril Senefeld. They were married on New Year’s Day in 1938.

There will be a private graveside service for Senefeld at 11 a.m. Thursday at Loma Vista Memorial Park and a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the National Farm Workers Ministry, c/o Jim Ivens, Orange County to Aid Farm Workers, 1229 Crestview Drive, CA, Fullerton 92833.
