The drama and dance troupes from the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley will display their performance mettle tonight during the club’s annual Talent Show. The “Fantasy Land!” event will highlight dancing, singing, cheerleading and other skills--all for a good cause: local charities. Also on tap is an art exhibit with works by club members. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Family Day

The Ojai Family Festival, benefiting the Ojai Birth Resource Family Center, will take place Saturday at the Libbey Bowl. The event will offer live music, theater games led by Elizabeth Ridenour of Illusions Theater, storytelling, craft activities and food. A highlight will be a concert by veteran singer Maria Muldaur of “Midnight at the Oasis” fame. She’ll perform her award-winning children’s music at 5 p.m., followed by an adult-oriented set at 6:30.

If western music, Gene Autry style, suits your musical fancy, consider attending the next installment of the “Music Under the Stars” series at the historic Olivas Adobe. New West, a harmonizing trio, will present its cowboy ballads and serenades--plus a few jokes and yarns.

Beach Party

The Hueneme Beach Festival will entertain all weekend long with live music, children’s activities, carnival rides, vendor booths, community displays and artisans. The music bill includes performances by Banned From the Beach, Teresa Russell, Ska Daddyz, Jazz Renegades and Rick Reeves Band.
