Toby’s House, a shelter for women in crisis pregnancies, is moving from its current location on Avenida Presidio to a larger home on Camino de Estrella.

A donor who requested anonymity gave the shelter a $100,000 trust fund to use for the move.

The shelter, which has been open since 1998, needed about $300,000 to buy and renovate a new home, director of development Jane Saeman said.

The move became necessary when the owner of the home on Presidio, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, needed to use the home as a priests quarters.

The church had allowed the shelter to use the home rent-free.

The new shelter will be able to accommodate nine women and will be ready sometime in the fall.

Toby’s House provides temporary housing, counseling, education and job training for homeless pregnant women.
