STANTON
The City Council last week voted to adopt a law regulating the sale and display of tobacco products to discourage sales to minors. The Stanton Boys & Girls Club has lobbied for the law, which prohibits displays of tobacco products unless they are in locked cases. It also requires retailers to check the ages of tobacco buyers.
The club found that 19% of tobacco retailers in Stanton sold tobacco products to minors. They concluded that regulating sales would help prevent minors from buying the products.
