Nader Refuses to Pull Political TV Spot

Presidential candidate Ralph Nader said he won’t pull a political spot spoofing MasterCard International Inc.’s TV commercials despite a trademark infringement suit filed by the credit card giant. “Our advertisement is a parody and fair political speech,” the Green Party nominee said at a news conference in Washington, predicting the lawsuit wouldn’t stand up in court. “It does not infringe on the MasterCard trademark or copyright.” MasterCard’s suit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, accuses the Nader campaign of trademark infringement and unfair competition. The suit seeks an injunction blocking Nader from airing the ads, which mimic MasterCard’s “priceless” commercials.
