‘An Angel Named Diane’

* Re “Man Kills Girlfriend, Himself on Busy Street,” Aug. 16:

I had the pleasure of meeting Diane Cortez five years ago. She helped me recover from foot surgery. When I read about her tragic death I was reduced to tears. Diane made every visit a joy. Always smiling, laughing and beaming like sunshine. She loved her job and loved talking about her wonderful kids. However, even five years ago she mentioned her difficult and problematic relationship with her boyfriend. I can only hope this tragedy helps other women realize the dangers of domestic violence and get help. Her kids, family and friends lost a beautiful woman, an angel named Diane.
