Powerful Media Inc., New York-based operator of the online journalistic venture Inside.com, will launch a print magazine in conjunction with the Industry Standard, a magazine that covers the Internet industry. The print product was expected, but the partnership with a highly successful trade magazine may add credibility to the new publication, which will cover the news and entertainment media as they adapt to new technologies. Michael Hirschorn, editor in chief of Inside.com, said the magazine will be aimed at media professionals and executives who are “forced to confront and embrace technology . . . or become obsolete.” He said that focus can distinguish the venture from established trade publications covering the same industries. The magazine has not yet been named but will debut this year. Inside.com will handle editorial and advertising operations with assistance and some shared content from the Industry Standard, whose parent company, San Francisco-based Standard Media International, will manage production and distribution.
