The city wants to participate in the California Urban Water Conservation Council, created to address urban water conservation efforts.

After signing the state program’s memorandum of understanding, the city agreed to adopt a set of cost-effective water management practices, nine of which the city already uses.

The Municipal Water District of Orange County is coordinating pilot programs for a residential water survey, plumbing retrofits and commercial/industrial water use programs. Besides water savings, benefits may include conservation credits and access to the state’s drought bank.
