The City Council on Tuesday approved a spending plan for two federal grants for local law enforcement totaling $162,598.
The grants will be used to buy equipment, including video cameras, binoculars, night-vision goggles and body wires for a team of police officers that handle specialized community problems. The money will also support expansion of a gang intervention program from 16 to 40 hours per week.
