The annual California TheatreSports Tournament will return to Ventura this weekend for some heated battles among several improvisational troupes from around the state. Four-member teams will stage an improvised skit based on a themed suggestion; teams are then awarded points, Olympic-style, by judges. Audience members are expected to get into the action as well, cheering or jeering accordingly.

Family

Gypsies in a Trunk, a youth theater troupe, will wrap up another seasonal offering of theatrical performances staged around the county with an adaptation of “Hansel and Gretel.” The final performances will be Saturday in Simi Valley and Sept. 9 in Camarillo and Ventura. Hansel and Gretel find themselves on a wild adventure in the haunted forest, only to learn that there’s no place like home.

Air Show

A B-25 Mitchell Bomber, P-51 Mustang Fighter and TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber are just some of the flying highlights at the Experimental Aircraft Assn.’s 20th annual Air Show this weekend in Camarillo. Other craft taking to the skies will be an F-4U Corsair Fighter, a Hawker Seafury Fighter, an A-26 Invader Bomber and a Trojan T-28 Trainer. Gates open each day at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. There will also be many exhibits and family activities. Flying demonstrations will end at 4 p.m.

Harmony

On Monday evening, the Association will headline the final installment of Conejo Recreation & Park District’s summer concerts series at Conejo Community Park. The audience will hear “Windy,” “Cherish” and other nuggets from the harmonizing sextet. Picnicking is encouraged. Bring your blankets and chairs--but not your pets.
