Bridge Shaker

* Re “Even Its Boss Feels the Golden Gate’s Spell,” Nov. 27:

I would like to add a little lore to the delightful article on the most famous bridge in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge across the San Francisco Bay. I love that bridge very, very much, like millions of others. Whenever I am in Frisco I walk across this giant bridge and, believe it or not, I shake the hell out of it!

I go across two-thirds of the first span, grab one of the vertical cables and start shaking it. Pretty soon you can see waves running up and down on the cable and, unbelievably, you can feel the roadway of the Golden Gate rising up and down. All of a sudden you became the strongest man in the world. (By the way, I am 145 pounds.)
