Northwestern Gives Walker a New Deal

Northwestern Coach Randy Walker agreed to a contract extension through the 2007 season. Terms of the agreement were not released. He guided the Wildcats to a share of the Big Ten title after finishing last in the conference last year. . . . The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Georgia Tech Coach George O’Leary has reached agreement on a new contract that will pay him $1 million a year. . . . Kentucky Athletic Director Larry Ivy is calling for an internal investigation of the football program amid allegations of recruiting improprieties. . . . Logan Young, a Memphis, Tenn., businessman, says he has not be contacted by the NCAA regarding his involvement in the recruitment of three players by Alabama. Young’s name has been linked to the NCAA’s investigation of the Crimson Tide program.
