Sheriff’s Dept. Launches Toy Drive
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s annual Toys for Tots drive got underway Tuesday during a ceremony at The Oaks Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano.
“Toys for Tots has received requests from more than 260 Orange County organizations for toys for underprivileged children,” said Steve Doan, an investigator with the Sheriff’s Department. “We need to collect a lot of toys so that some of these children can have a Christmas.”
This year, the Sheriff’s Department has teamed up with community service programs to help the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve place collection boxes at stores and deliver the games, stuffed animals and dolls to local underprivileged children.
