From Times Wire Reports

The U.S. Customs Service said it had received 4,841 job applications over the Internet or by telephone in just four days after announcing job openings for inspectors and canine enforcement officers. Customs Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly kicked off a “quality recruitment initiative” this year aimed at building a pool of applicants for jobs at the nation’s borders and ports of entry. The job announcement said it would take job requests this week, or until it received 5,000 applications. Customs said it set the limit to avoid clogging up its hiring process.
