There’s Nothing Wrong With BCS Title Matchup
I disagree with Chris Dufresne that this year’s BCS rankings were a failure. Although I would rather see a playoff system, the BCS this year did exactly what it was intended to do; it determined the two best teams based on a full season’s schedule of games (and not based on one game in October).
Miami’s victory over Florida State was not a playoff game and should not be treated as one. It was a three-point victory played in Miami. What if the game had instead been played at Florida State or a neutral site? Besides, based on Dufresne’s logic, Washington and not Miami should be playing Oklahoma for the national championship, but you don’t hear a lot of people clamoring for that matchup. I watched a lot of college football this year and I believe the two best teams are playing for the title.
