Three men were injured--two critically--when their 1996 Ford Thunderbird hit a tree next to the Tierra Rejada onramp of California 23 late Friday night, authorities said.

Zsolt Benczik, 22, of Moorpark was driving fast on the onramp just before midnight when he lost control of the car and struck a tree, said a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.

He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the dispatcher said.

Benczik was airlifted to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in very critical condition with head and internal injuries on Saturday, hospital spokeswoman Kris Carraway-Bowman said.

One of his passengers, Troy Wilhite, 24, of Thousand Oaks was taken to Simi Valley Hospital and was also listed in critical condition, the CHP dispatcher said.

The third man, Tamas Dunai, 21, of Hungary, was in serious condition with head and abdominal injuries at Los Robles, Carraway-Bowman said.
