Holiday Closings

The following schedules will be in effect during the Christmas weekend:

* Government: City offices will be closed after noon today and all day Monday. County and state offices will be closed Monday. Federal offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

* Courts: County and state courts will be closed Monday. Federal courts will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

* Libraries: City libraries will be closed Saturday through Monday. County libraries will be closed Sunday and Monday.

* Banks: Banks will be closed Monday.

* Schools: There will be no classes at most public elementary or secondary schools through Jan. 8. Year-round schools will reopen Jan. 2.

* Mail: There will be no mail delivery Monday; most post offices will be closed. Express mail service will be available at some post offices. Call (800) 275-8777 to find the nearest open post office.

* Trash: If your trash is normally collected today, it will be collected Saturday. Next week and the first week of January, trash pickup will be delayed one day.

* Mass transit: Some additional MTA bus service will be available at midday today on lines 418, 426, 436, 466, 489, 497 for trips from downtown Los Angeles. On Monday, buses will follow the Sunday schedule. Metrolink trains will not be in service Monday.
