Fourth-Quarter Net Income Tumbles for Bridgford Foods
Bridgford Foods Corp. said higher pork prices and energy and packaging costs helped drive down net income for the fourth quarter. The Anaheim company, which produces convenience-food products, earned $2.2 million, or 21 cents a share in the three months ended Nov. 3, down 18.6% from $2.7 million, or 24 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales rose 16.8% to $42.9 million. For the year, net income fell 12% to $8.8 million, or 80 cents a share, from $10 million, or 88 cents a share, the previous year. Sales rose 12.6% to $156.3 million.
