Moorpark middle school teacher Morley Cohen will serve as director of the Ventura County Science Fair for the fifth straight year.

The Mesa Verde Middle School instructor has taught science for 20 years and has brought hundreds of students to the countywide event since 1982. Nearly 1,200 students participated last school year and more are expected to sign up in the spring, when the theme will be “2001: A Science Odyssey.”

“A career in science is the outgrowth and ultimate application of the skills involved in the development of a science project,” he said.

The fair runs April 24-26 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura.
