From Times Wire Reports

A string of attacks across Algeria over the weekend left 22 people dead, including a young singer and five members of the country’s security and rescue forces, reports said. The attacks in the North African nation, presumably by Islamic militants, pushed the number of people killed since the Nov. 27 start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan to nearly 300. In one attack, about two dozen men stormed a nightclub in Berrahal, about 250 miles east of the capital, Algiers, on Friday night. The attackers chased down Sihem Echaouiya, a singer, and slit her throat, witnesses said.
