After the Split, Still Neighborly in Brentwood

Grammy-winning singer Melissa Etheridge and her companion of 12 years, director Julie Cypher, called it quits in September, but it was, as they said at the time, apparently an amiable split: They have purchased houses adjacent to each other in Brentwood.

One of the houses, with a $1.2-million loan against it, has three bedrooms in about 2,000 square feet, according to public records. The other, purchased for about $1.4 million, has two bedrooms in 1,500 square feet. Both houses were built in the 1930s.

The smaller of the houses is believed to be for Etheridge. She and Cypher have two children. Cypher is the birth mother; rock legend David Crosby was identified as the children’s father.

In the September statement announcing the end of their relationship, Etheridge and Cypher said, “With the utmost of love and respect for one another, we have decided to separate. . . . As committed parents, our top priority continues to be what is in the best interest of our children. Though elements of our lives will change, our family will remain intact.”

In the meantime, a country English-style, Hollywood Hills house that Etheridge once owned has been listed at just under $800,000. Built in 1941, the house has two bedrooms, three baths, a den, pool and spa.

Garrison Key of Key Properties, West Hollywood, has the listing, sources said.

Heinz Holba, who founded Hollywood-based L.A. Models 15 years ago and recently opened the theatrical agency L.A. Talent, has sold a home in Coldwater Canyon to actor Jason Beghe and his wife for $850,000.

Beghe, who played Demi Moore’s boyfriend and confidant in “G.I. Jane” (1997) and portrayed a state trooper in “Thelma & Louise” (1991), has made guest appearances on such TV shows as “Dharma & Greg,” “Family Law” and “Resurrection Blvd.”

The home is a 1960s traditional on almost an acre with four bedrooms.

Holba also sold a Laurel Canyon home that he owned to Sony Pictures executive Stacey Attanasio, sister of Oscar-nominated screenwriter Paul Attanasio (“Quiz Show,” “Donnie Brasco”), and her husband, Robert Gonzalez, for $700,000.

Timothy Enright of the Enright Co. represented Holba in both of his sales; Victoria Lockwood and Coco Clayman-Cook of Fred Sands Estates represented Beghe and his wife, and Peter Maurice, also of Fred Sands Estates, represented the buyers of Holba’s Laurel Canyon property.
