Pesticide Incident At Mound School
* Re “Who Will Protect the Children at School?” Ventura County Perspective, Nov. 19.
Thank you for your articles on the Mound School pesticide contamination incident that occurred Nov. 8. [Two children went home and dozens of other students and teachers complained of dizziness, headaches and nausea following the early morning application of the insecticide Lorsban on a lemon orchard across the street.]
I am a parent of one the affected children, and I am very concerned about the long-term health effects on my son.
There is no good reason for this kind of carelessness.
I greatly support the efforts of Mary Haffner and Principal Richard Kirby to collect damages and, more importantly, to prevent this situation from recurring.
