Sicor Gets FDA OK

Sicor Inc. said Monday its Gensia Sicor Pharmaceuticals unit received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for a so-called abbreviated new drug application for its injections to treat leukemia and cancer.

The Irvine pharmaceutical company said in a press release that its daunorubicin hydrochloride injection is used to induce remission of acute myelogenous leukemia in adults and acute lymphocytic leukemia in children and adults.

The flourouracil injection is used in the palliative management of cancer of the colon, rectum, breast, stomach and pancreas.
