The Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera will raise funds through a new costume rental business that could help jump-start a 2000 season. The 15-year-old theater group’s 1999 season was canceled when members could not meet the production costs, which range from $20,000 to $30,000 for each performance. Civic Light Opera founder Virginia DeLand is hopeful that this effort will bring in enough money to stage a youth production of “Bye Bye Birdie” in the fall. “We’re still trying hard to get us back on our feet again,” DeLand said. “But it’s been hard.” DeLand said she is not sure when the costume rental venture will open shop. But she added that the theater company’s board of directors has been meeting regularly to discuss fund-raising plans.
