A final decision on whether the Surfline Surfing Championships will take place this weekend hinges on the county’s pollution test results, which will be available this afternoon. The community amateur event has been rescheduled twice because of small waves and unacceptable bacteria levels. Recent storms have produced large waves, which are predicted to continue through the weekend. Organizers are optimistic that the event will take place because storm runoff, which contributes to the higher levels of bacteria, occurred several days ago. The competition, open to Seal Beach residents and workers, is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
