All He’s Asking for Is Some Fair Warning
“They Can Field Dreams Along With Grounders” [Jan. 30]. Great story, but where will the kids in Children of Promise get a college education if administrators of public colleges are allowed to continue quickly eliminating sports without discussion with students, parents and other taxpayers?
We need to pick up our phones or pens and ask our Assembly members to pass SB 338. It passed in the Senate, 26-4, but is danger of losing in March in the Assembly Higher Education Committee. The bill asks for no money. It asks only that notification be given a year in advance if any sport is to be eliminated. That will allow time to rally to save the sport and the education of kids so they can get good jobs.
