Another Schuller to Be Introduced

The Rev. Robert A. Schuller, son of Crystal Cathedral founder Robert H. Schuller, plans to introduce his 18-year-old son, Robert Schuller III, to the Garden Grove congregation on Sunday.

Although he hasn’t made an appearance on stage at the Crystal Cathedral since he was 10 and sang a song for the congregation, Robert Schuller III is interested in someday becoming a minister, according to his father, pastor of Rancho Capistrano Ministries in San Juan Capistrano.

Robert A. Schuller said he advised his son--a business major at Oral Roberts University--not to major in religion in college but rather to attend seminary after college if he’s still interested in inheriting the Crystal Cathedral empire that his 73-year-old grandfather built.

“He has a lot of my dad’s charisma,” said Robert A. Schuller. “My son is very extroverted.”

In addition to some singing and piano playing by the youngest Robert Schuller, the 11 a.m. service will also feature a “True Love Waits” ceremony in which teenagers will be invited to pledge a vow of abstinence until marriage. The church is at 13280 Chapman Ave. in Garden Grove. Call (714) 971-4069 for information.
