Beachy Keen--or Not

I was excited to see the beautiful picture of Santa Monica’s Casa del Mar (“A Stay at the Beach,” Jan. 23) but disappointed in Susan Spano’s review. Just after the hotel opened, I had a wonderful meal and fabulous service and was terrifically impressed.

Your story is misleading. On my recent visit to Santa Monica, I did not find the beachfront hotels to have a high level of service and comfort. For what I paid, I could stay in many of the finest hotels in the U.S.
