ORANGE
The Orange Unified School Board voted Thursday in favor of requiring teachers to show proof of illness or offer a legitimate reason when calling in sick. The board also approved paying substitute teachers $150 a day instead of $100 on days when the superintendent determines there are excessive absences.
Both votes were made as a result of recent teacher sickouts.
