SEAL BEACH
The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific is sponsoring an effort to restore the five-acre nesting area of the California least tern found on the Seal Beach Wildlife Refuge. A half-day volunteer event Feb. 26 will focus on removing nonnative vegetation from the area for the federally listed endangered species.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Friends of the Seal Beach National Wildlife are hosting the event, along with the Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach. Volunteers should arrive at the station’s main gate, 800 Seal Beach Blvd., at 8:15 a.m. Gloves and gardening tools are recommended. Information: (562) 951-1694.
