LA HABRA
The Planning Commission has rejected a proposal to build an adult education school in an office building on La Habra Boulevard to alleviate an overcrowding problem at La Sierra High School’s Alternative Education Program. City officials said an in-depth parking study will be needed before it can move forward.
The commission will review the site proposal at its next meeting in two weeks.
For more than a decade, La Sierra High School has offered daytime classes at the Civic Center for adults pursuing a high school diploma or taking English as a second language.
“We’d prefer to have our own facility,” said Ronald M. Gross, the school’s principal, adding that the program has plans to develop its own computer lab at the new site.
