Clutch Double by Veronesi Gets Fullerton Past Moorpark

Angie Veronesi’s two-run double in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday gave Fullerton a 5-4 victory over Moorpark in nonconference women’s softball.

Erin Kelly pitched nine innings and picked up her fifth victory for Fullerton (9-1).

In nonconference baseball:

Moorpark 10, Fullerton 8--Eddie Romprey’s two-out error in the top of the second allowed Moorpark (2-3) to score six unearned runs as they built a 7-0 lead and never trailed, despite being outhit, 16-14.

David Cosato had four hits, including a two-run home run, three runs scored and three RBIs for Fullerton (4-4).

In nonconference women’s tennis:

Fullerton 9, Palomar 0--Heidi Ohanesian swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, then teamed with Janis Deitrick to win in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.

Erica Goode won in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Sondra McNamara won in No. 3, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

Fullerton improved to 3-0.

Orange Coast 5, San Diego Mesa 2--Shannon Gibson swept 6-2, 6-1 and Jessica Andrus swept 6-1, 6-3 for host Orange Coast.

Gibson teamed with Andrus to win in No. 3 doubles, 7-6. Orange Coast is 1-1.
