Event for Engineers Set to Begin Sunday

National Engineers Week 2000, which begins Sunday, will be recognized by engineering councils from Santa Barbara and Ventura County with a banquet at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library near Simi Valley.

The annual event is meant to increase public awareness and appreciation of engineers and their work.

The Engineers Week Council will present awards for the Engineering Project of the Year and the Engineer of the Year. Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to local engineering students.

About 250 people attended the event last year.

Advance tickets can be purchased for $40 a person or $45 at the door. Price includes the dinner banquet and a private tour of the Reagan library.
