Rescue Mission Gets Funds to Help Families

* Seaside Park announced the winners of its annual awards program, which honors community members for outstanding efforts and contributions to the success of the fairgrounds and the Ventura County Fair.

Leo and Rita Vanoni of Somis won the Western Fair Assn.’s Blue Ribbon Award, the county fair’s highest honor presented for meritorious service to the fair industry. The Vanonis and their family have hosted the Children’s Barnyard at the fair for 45 years.

The President’s Award winners were Teri and Devlin Raley of Ventura, whose firm, Creative Images, has handled the park’s marketing and public relations for 20 years.

The park’s deputy manager Ed Barlow won the Manager’s Award for his duties in the facilities department. The Jack Morgan Memorial Award recognizes guest hospitality and was awarded to Kaye Zerbes of Ventura. An Exceptional Employee Award was presented to Calixtro Rocha of Oxnard, who also works in the facilities department.

Winners of Directors Awards:

Guest services--Melinda Fox of Ventura.

Museum coordinator--Mindy Kroener of Oxnard.

Floriculture department volunteer--Sue Diller of Ventura.

Guest safety honors went to: Amy Albano, City of Ventura; Ken Corney and Gerry Foreman, both of the Ventura Police Department.
